David’s Approach to Counseling

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and born-again believer, David Adams combines clinically proven therapy with Biblical truth and compassion. Whether a client comes in angry, broken, ashamed, or numb, David meets them right where they are. He walks alongside clients through the hard stuff so they can find clarity, peace, and purpose again.

David’s goal isn’t to “fix” anyone—it’s to walk with them as the Lord heals the parts of their story that still hurt.

What to Expect

1

Let’s Get Real

You don’t have to pretend or sugarcoat things in therapy with me. Come as you are — no judgment. We’ll talk about what’s really going on and what you hope to change.

2

Christ-Centered,
Evidence-Based Support

Integrate proven therapeutic approaches like IFS, EMDR, ART, CBT, and DBT-informed strategies, all through a Christian lens. We’ll choose the modality that fits your situation and goals.

3

Grow, Heal, Repeat

You’ll learn pratical tools, develop emotional resilience, and experience healing that sticks — not just in your mind, but in your spirit. We’ll end sessions with prayer (if you’re open to it), trusting God to do what only He can.

"Therapy isn’t always comfortable — but it should always feel safe. My role isn’t to preach at you or fix you. It’s to walk beside you, with both clinical skill and Spirit-led care. I specialize in working with angry men, struggling couples, veterans, first responders, and anyone who’s tired of carrying their pain alone. If that sounds like you — I’d honored to work with you."

FAQs

What can I expect during a therapy session?

From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed by me—and often by Daisy, the therapy dog, too. We’ll start with a quick orientation to the therapy camper space, where you’re invited to settle in with hot coffee or a cold bottle of water.

In our first session, I’ll explain the limits of confidentiality, the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship, and my clinical licensure. We'll go over your intake paperwork and I'll ask clarifying questions to get a deeper understanding of your needs. Expect a blend of intentional clinical work, rapport-building conversation, and a safe, validating atmosphere. This isn’t a sterile office—it's a welcoming space where healing begins with honesty, humor, and grace.

Do I have to be a Christian to work with you?

No. While my approach is grounded in Christian faith, I welcome anyone who’s open to therapy. My role is to meet you where you are and provide support with respect and care.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I accept most major commercial insurance providers, as well as Kansas and Missouri Medicaid. Oklahoma Medicaid will be available soon. My office manager verifies your benefits and helps you understand coverage.

What if I prefer to pay out-of-pocket?

No problem. My private pay rate is $150 per session. This includes the same quality of care and scheduling flexibility.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! I provide both in-person and HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy for clients across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Where is your office located?

My therapy space is located just south of Columbus, Kansas, in a private and peaceful countryside setting. The exact address is shared after your first appointment is confirmed.

What makes your practice different?

I’m not your typical therapist—I’m a big, bald, bearded biker who’s seen life from the inside out. I blend clinical expertise with spiritual guidance and down-to-earth conversations. While I work with both men and women, my specialty is working with angry, overwhelmed, or struggling men—especially veterans, first responders, and Christian men seeking real healing.

What age group do you work with?

I primarily work with adults and teens ages 16+. I also provide family and couples therapy.

What if I’ve never done therapy before?

That’s okay—and you’re not alone. I’ll walk you through what to expect and create a space where you feel safe to be honest. You don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.

How do I get started?
